The Benefits of Belonging
Education is one of the main goals of our Association. Quality seminars and national or local speakers on the latest and hottest real estate issues are given at no or low cost.
We are involved through our fund-raisers supporting various community charities.
Our Annual Beach Party and exciting Holiday Gala offer opportunities to associate with peers informally. Other social functions are often associated with fund-raising activities.
National, Regional & State conventions where Real Estate Experts give you proven ideas and the information on technology in our field. Trade shows associated with conventions are a great source of new technology and advances in our profession.
Meetings are held during the year in order to bring important business and information before the Membership, present awards and to promote camaraderie among our Members.
You will benefit from committees such as Finance, Professional Development, Fair Housing and Equal Opportunities, Government Affairs, Education, Grievance, Public Relations, Programs, Professional Standards and Strategic Planning. These committees work for you..and better yet, you can volunteer to take part as a member of the committee which interests you.
Realtor of the Year – Distinguished Service Award – Good Neighbor Award
Web Based Information and Tools:
Our Association is connected with the National and Rhode Island Associations maintaining a membership database using the World Wide Web. We also maintain our Association website, which provides a great deal of information 24/7. As a member of our Association, you may also apply for membership in the Statewide Multiple Listing Service and be entitled to use their web-based MLS, a great sales tool for you. Another sales tool is RILiving.com, the public website of the Rhode Island Association, which displays your listings for everyone to view.
All members may avail themselves of the Association’s Professional Standards Committee where commission disputes between members are settled privately, through the arbitration process.
We use email and the website to keep you up-to-date News to keep you abreast of local city and town issues. There is also a message center through the MLS. Plus, as a member, you will receive a monthly copy of the Rhode Island Real Estate News, which includes state-wide coverage on State and Local Board activities
Why Become a Member?
By obtaining your real estate license you are not necessarily classified as a REALTOR®. The term REALTOR®, REALTOR-ASSOCIATE ®, and REALTORS ®, is an officially registered trademark of the National Association of REALTORS®.
Being a member of the Kent Washington Association of REALTORS® means that you have agreed to subscribe to a strict Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. This Code pledges the REALTOR® to the fair treatment of sellers and buyers.
Since 1916, when the unique term REALTOR ® was first “coined” or “invented”, the public has come to recognize those who use the MARKS as Members of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS ®.
When a Buyer or Seller begins a search to buy or sell a home, they should know that there is a difference between a real estate agent and a REALTOR®. Unlike a Real Estate Agent, a REALTOR® has committed themselves as providers of real estate-related services consistent with the Code of Ethics and the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and competence.
In addition to having a license to sell real estate, a REALTOR® is a member of a Professional Trade Association – in our case, the Kent Washington Association of REALTORS®, Rhode Island Association of REALTORS® (RIAR), and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). The trade associations work to enhance property values and work closely with policy makers at all levels to protect the rights of private property owners.
